THE CLAIRE FOSS JOURNAL
THE PRIVATIZATION OF NORWAY'S OIL INDUSTRY
According to the Norwegian newspaper Dagens Naerlingsliv, Norway’s national oil company Statoil
will be listed on the Oslo and New York stock exchanges on June 18th - 2001.
The paper says it had this confirmed after Parliament on Thursday agreed to partly privatize
Statoil and sell off part of the State ownership in Norway’s oil and gas reserves.(SDOE).
The price of the Statoil shares will be fixed on June 17th, the paper reports.
This could spell the beginning of a major shift in government thinking and put a end to
Norway reaping huge profits that in turn funded education and social programs that
benefited all Norwegians.
Norway will eventually rue the day when they allowed this nasty privatization scheme that will
only benefit a few at the expense of the rest of Norwegian society.
SHAME on the present Norwegian Parliament.
